FTI is a great place to study English in Australia. We have English courses for students of every level. Students learn to speak with fluency and accuracy developing the four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking.
The General English course focuses on communication activities in functional and situational contexts. The classes are theme-based providing relevant practice which can be applied outside the classroom.
Small class sizes ensure that our friendly teachers (all of whom have native speaking proficiency in English) are able to attend to the needs of each individual student.

Entry Requirement
There are no specific entry requirements for this ELICOS course. It is open to all international students who can provide the following:
- The student must be 18 years or older at the start of the course.
- The student must have completed Australian Year 12 (or equivalent).
- For students starting at in-between levels, an AIA Placement Test may be required.
Before enroling, students can take an assessment to determine their appropriate level, which helps us identify any special needs.
Students taking the full General English ELICOS course (all 6 levels) do not need prior English knowledge. However, those with previous experience can submit results from exams like IELTS (or equivalent) to show their skills, which may also support academic purposes.
